Our Team

Hi I’m Sarah, the Registered Occupational Therapist here at The Hammock.

Just a little history about me…I fell into the career of OT by unexpected good fortune, I was thinking of pursuing a career as a doctor or nurse, but someone told me a little about OT. I decided that sounded like fun. So here I am with over twenty years of OT experience, which is the coolest job around and still having lots of fun. I have worked many places, enjoyed each one, and have always come out with unique experiences that enrich my OT skills.

I obtained my degree through Eastern Michigan University with much determination and motivation; as it took me 6 hours on a daily basis to get to the university and back home to Lowell, Michigan on a good day. Plus I needed to study and complete homework, and as well, taking care of family and household duties on top of driving and attending classes. This gives you a little insight on my dedication I give to the individuals that come to The Hammock.

I have had extensive training outside which include conferences, workshops, and certification trainings, and will continue expand my expertise by participating in the latest and most update education to insure the best of quality. Some of my credentials and specialties are:

  • Registered Occupational Therapist
  • Certified Occupational therapy assistant
  • Certified Basic life support instructor for CPR, First Aid and AED training
  • Certified HANDLE Screener, Certified yoga instructor
  • Training in Myofacial release therapy
  • So much for the professional stuff, let me tell you the fun stuff about my family and I. First of all, I love to be barefoot and stick my feet in the sand. I also love to be outdoors when the weather is good, but also enjoy life’s little perks like pedicures, massages, and chocolate. I have a great husband named David, who is a pilot and rides motorcycles. He also can fix ANYTHING. We enjoy challenging each other to explore new and exciting adventures together like dancing, going flying out to dinner, riding motorcycles; and to be the best that we could be in all that we do.

I totally enjoy both of my 2 teenage children, Jessica and Joseph, watching them grow, explore, learn and love and even with all the teenage emotions get rolling. I still get hugs and kisses each night from these kids that have managed to fill my heart with joy. What a blessing it is to have such a great family! We have 2 large dogs, Midnight and Lou, one should have been a rug by the fireplace, and the other one seems to have a thing with carrying my shoes around the house.

When I am stressed or need some down time, I like to exercise, yoga, play racquetball, or even kayak; otherwise I will paint walls, pictures, murals, anything I can get my hands on.

Life is like a book: you know the beginning and the ending, but what is fun is that you get to write what is in-between. I enjoy and celebrate individuality, life experiences, and all that God has given me. Hello, my name is Melissa. I am the Business Administrative Assistant at The Hammock LLC. Basically my duties are to clean up any ’messes’ made by the others. I am single and loving it!

Being single has given me the opportunity to travel a bit. I have been on three different cruises. All of the cruises were in the Caribbean. I have been to NASA with my step-mother. I went to Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania to see my niece at college.

I have also visited Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Palm Springs when visiting my Dad and step-mother in San Jacinto California. I like to visit them over Christmas and New Years so I can enjoy the 60 degree weather while everyone back home is hoping to get up into the 20’s.

I have also taken one nephew to Lego Land in San Diego California. I took another nephew to Universal Studios and Medieval Times in Kissimmee, Florida. My niece and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas’ together also.

I am currently going back to college to finish my BA in Business Management. I will accomplish this goal in February 2010. I enjoy working with the young children in my church. I currently teach 2nd grade girls Sunday school and Wednesday nights 4-6 year old class.

In my down time I like to read books (not the school text books). I would love to sit on a sandy white beach in a hammock, while sipping on some fruit punch and enjoying some chocolate.

Hi, there! My name is David. I enjoy working in the product, design and assembly at The Hammock.

I also manage the building and ground maintenance, and keeping the equipment maintained.

I love to read educational, business, and investment books. I also enjoy sitting by the fireplace, which is a great place for me to learn and relax.

I am a licensed pilot who enjoys flying. It is a great skill and privilege to be able to have the freedom to fly anywhere in the states. The Lowell Airport 24C is conveniently located near The Hammock. If you need transportation to get to the facility from your home, I could be your pilot; or need to be picked up from the Lowell airport, no problem, we could do that too.

I like to ride motorcycles, and enjoy going out for an evening ride with one of my two children or my wife, and stop somewhere for a diet coke. This gives us time to talk and connect.

I also love to fly out to get some dinner or lunch at different places. Learning about aviation is a great experience, as it is a constant learning curve to sharpen my skills.
